On 16 February, 2021 ICMPD in the framework of the EU-funded ENIGMMA 2 project, in close cooperation with the Academician Levan Alexidze Foundation and International Criminal Law Center, organized a webinar “‘Freedom of Movement and Displacement from Occupied Territories”. The webinar hosted two invited speakers – Prof. Dr. Ketevan Khutsishvili, Director of International Criminal Law Center and Dr. Marco Longobardo from Westminster University. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Saba Pipia.

Information Meetings on Exit Control

On 24-25 December, 2020 ICMPD in the framework of the EU-funded ENIGMMA 2 project, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, organized two information meetings on the amendment to the “Law of Georgia on Rules for Georgian citizens on Leaving and Entering Georgia” which enters into force on 1st of January, 2021.

Online training on Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings, Mechanisms and Modern Trends

In the framework of the EU-funded ENIGMMA 2 project, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in close cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Agency for State Care and Assistance for the (statutory) Victims of Human Trafficking organised online trainings on ‘Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings (THB), Mechanisms and Modern Trends’. On 14 December 2020 training was conducted for the lawyers of the Legal Aid Service, while on 26 December 2020 – for the representatives of Public Service Halls of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

Training on immigration detention

On 8 December, 2020 ICMPD in the framework of the EU-funded ENIGMMA 2 project, in close cooperation with the Levan Alexidze Foundation organized a preparatory training for the participants of Levan Alexidze International Law Moot Court Competition 2020. The training was delivered by Jorrit Rijpma, professor at the Europa Institute of Leiden Law School.

Online training on document check, profiling and exit control

On 7-8 December, 2020, ICMPD in the framework of the EU-funded ENIGMMA 2 project, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia organised an online training on document check, profiling and exit control for the representatives of the Patrol Police Department (for border controllers of Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi International Airports). This interactive online event provided platform for exchange of information on the various aspects of document security and profiling between Georgian and EU experts and in particular aimed in strengthening capacities of Georgian officials in pre-departure check of Georgian citizens leaving to EU based on the current changes at the national regulatory framework.

Training on Psychological Aspects of Interaction with Alleged Victims of Human Trafficking

On 28-29 September 2020, in the framework of the EU funded ENIGMMA 2 project, in close cooperation with Ministry of Justice Coordination Council against Human Trafficking training on Psychological Aspects of Interaction with Alleged Victims of Human Trafficking took place in Hotel Kachreti Ambassadori, Georgia. Training was aimed at mobile groups who have direct contact with alleged victims of Human Trafficking and for the members of standing committee, who take decisions on granting the status.
