Presentation of THE PROGRESS REVIEW OF THE PDP BASELINE STUDY IN THE AREA OF MIGRATION MANAGEMENT IN GEORGIA

On 18 June 2021, ICMPD in the framework of EU-funded ENIGMMA 2 project, in close cooperation with the State Inspector’s Service, organised a presentation of the findings of the Progress Review of the PDP Baseline Study in the Area of Migration.

PDP Baseline Study was carried out in 2015. The Progress Review Report aims to evaluate the state of the art and progress in implementing data protection legislation by the state institutions that play a leading role in migration management. The objective of the Progress Review has been to identify best practices and common data processing challenges, opportunities for more efficient data management and collaboration, and needs for further capacity development.

The Report confirmed that the main recommendations provided by the Baseline Study are well implemented in practice, and the institutions playing a central role in migration management have made tangible steps to improve and uphold personal data protection and data security standards. In order to align migration management-related processes with the PDP legislation and standards, the Study provided the general recommendations relevant to all authorities as well as institution-specific recommendations.

The Progress Review of the PDP Baseline Study in the Area of Migration was developed by an ICMPD expert, Ms. Tamar Kaldani.
